Suicide Hotline Numbers and Web Sites
A Center for Disease Control study states that 30,622 Americans took their own lives by suicide in 2001. Suicide affects every segment of American society. If you or someone you know is thinking about suicide or is feeling depressed, a call to a confidential suicide hotline can help. People call a suicide hotline to get advice or just to have someone listen. The people who volunteer their time to man a suicide line will be trained to listen and advise those that are having suicidal thoughts.
There are many places that you can turn to for help. There are National hotlines that are open 365 days a year and 24 hours a day as well as a large number of local community or state run hotlines. If you are feeling very blue, suicidal or have feelings of worthlessness it is important to talk to someone. It doesn’t matter if you call a local or National hotline, someone will answer that wants to listen to you and help.
